About Divisions, Sections and Committees
Divisions and Sections
MCBA's divisions and sections plan and implement CLE programs, host social/networking events for their members, and often participate in community service activities. Some produce publications that are made available to the general membership.
Membership in these groups is the best way to meet and mingle with like-minded practitioners, enhance your legal knowledge, and expand your network of colleagues.
Each section or division is headed by an executive board which is normally elected by section members. (Division board presidents are automatically members of the MCBA Board of Directors.) This core group meets at least monthly and may appoint subcommittees to implement its projects. Any member may attend the monthly meetings.
The MCBA's four divisions are either employment or age-related:
- Corporate Counsel
- Paralegal
- Public Lawyers
- Young Lawyers
The 12 sections are subject matter- or practice-related:
- Bankruptcy
- Construction Law
- Criminal Law
- Employment Law
- Environmental & Natural Resources Law
- Estate Planning, Probate & Trust
- Family Law (including juvenile law)
- Litigation
- Personal Injury/Negligence
- Real Estate
- Sole Practitioners
- Technology & Intellectural Property
Any MCBA member may join the section or division of their choice either at no extra charge or for a nominal fee. Please go here for more information. The quickest way to join a division or section is to call Cynthia at (602) 257-4200 ext. 114 and use your Mastercard or Visa to sign up.
